Our author events provide the opportunity to meet and greet in an intimate setting, giving the community the chance to engage and learn more about the person behind the book.
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library host a variety of authors from different genres, curating boutique author experiences that bring people together to celebrate the literary arts in Mt. Pleasant, NC.

Jackie Tea with Dawn Tripp: June 24, 2025.
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library and Editions Bookstore partnered to host NY Times Bestselling author Dawn Tripp on the release of the paperback version of her captivating book, Jackie. Patrons were treated to a Jackie themed tea, with chintz china, dainty treats, and of course, hot tea!

Team W Author Event: Nov. 2, 2024
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library were fortunate to partner with 73 & Main to host a Scottish tea themed event on November 2, 2024 to celebrate the latest book release from Team W: The Author’s Guide to Murder. Kathy White, Lauren Willig, and Beatriz Williams graciously entertained guests and signed books at this lovely afternoon gathering.

William Kent Krueger Event: October 3, 2024.
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library partnered with other Cabarrus County Library Friends groups in order to bring NY Times Best Selling Author William Kent Krueger to the Milestone Conference Center for a Community Read.

Kristy Woodson Harvey Event: July 10, 2024
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library partnered with The Farmstead to host a gracious evening with Kristy Woodson Harvey on her book tour for A Happier Life. The rustic yet elegant barn was the perfect setting for a fascinating author talk and meet and greet, and guests enjoyed heavy hors d’oeuvres and cozy seating at this sold out event.

Jennifer Pharr Davis Author Event: June 13, 2024.
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library were thrilled to host renowned author and trailblazer Jennifer Pharr Davis for an evening of inspiration. Patrons were able to meet and greet with Jennifer and purchase copies of her deeply moving books.

Tom Cotter Event: April 20, 2024.
Author Tom Cotter, the Barn Find Hunter on YouTube, was a guest speaker at the Mt. Pleasant Library on April 20, 2024. The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library also hosted a classic car show in conjunction with this fun event!

The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library welcomed author Kristen Ness to the Mt. Pleasant Library’s Murder & Mayhem Book Club in February 2024.

Jeffrey Blount Author Event: February 21, 2024.
The Friends of the Mt. Peasant Library partnered with the Friends of the Kannapolis Library to bring Emmy award winning Jeffrey Blount as the Black History Month Keynote Speaker in February 2024. Patrons were able to meet and greet with the author and purchase copies of his acclaimed book, Mr. Jimmy From Around the Way. This author event was made possible by a Grassroots Grant from the Cabarrus Arts Council, funded by the North Carolina Arts Council.

Diane Chamberlain Author Event: October 13, 2023.
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library were honored to host NY Times Bestselling Author Diane Chamberlain at the Murder and Mayhem Book Club Meeting on October 13, 2023. Patrons were treated to a fascinating author talk about the novel, The Last House on the Street.
John Hart Author Event: May 4, 2023.
The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library were honored to bring North Carolina native John Hart to the Finishing Room at 73 & Main for an evening author event. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and comfortable seating while listening to John discuss his writing process and inspiration.
