All festival events are held at the Mt. Pleasant Library and Active Living Center located at
1111 N. Washington St. Mt. Pleasant NC 28124
Please use this address in your GPS or phone.
There may be a detour route for some approaches, due to a water project in progress. Please plan extra time accordingly.
Where should I park?
Parking spaces are available at the following locations:
*1111 N. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124 (The Library itself—be sure to utilize lower parking lots)
*Zeba’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service, located at 8550 Cook St., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124
*8556 Cook St., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124 (the old library building)
*Atrium Health Primary Care Cabarrus Family Medicine, located at 8560 Cook St., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124
*Gordon’s Funeral Home, 8559 Cook St., Mt. Pleasant, NC 28124
When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled author event in order to leave enough time to secure parking and check in at the door. We will not hold seats past the for SOLD OUT EVENTS—please plan accordingly to ensure your seat.
Do I really have to register?
Yes. All events are free and require registration because seating is limited. If an author event is marked full, there is no additional seating available. However, there is a waitlist. Filling out the waitlist form does not ensure a seat. However, if any seats open up due to cancellation, we will contact people on the waitlist in the order in which their request was received.Thank you for your understanding! What if I registered but it turns out I can’t attend/my friend can’t attend/etc.?
No worries! We completely understand that life happens. We ask that you please email mtpleasantfol@gmail.com to let us know your name, author event, and number of tickets you no longer need. That way, we can equitably distribute them down the waitlist. Please let us know so that others can enjoy the experience!
Do I need to check in?
Yes. You will need to check in with the roster checker (at the door) before taking a seat for your author event. The QR code on your ticket is not necessary. We will have your name and number of tickets on our roster.
Will authors sign books or pose for a photo?
Yes. Immediately following the author’s event, please wait for the author to move to the atrium hallway. Book assistants will be on hand to manage the line. You will be able to have your book signed and have a quick photo if desired. We will have a designated volunteer who will assist with photos throughout the book signing. Please be respectful of other guests and the author’s time as we have many author events in the same space throughout the day.
Will there be books available for purchase?
Yes. Local bookseller Editions Bookstore will have all festival authors’ books for sale over all three days of the festival.

Will you have #MPLITFEST merchandise?
Of course! We want you to be able to sport our logo and show the bookish world you were at the Mt. Pleasant Literary Festival! The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library will have literary festival tote bags, festival t-shirts, and stickers available for purchase throughout the fest at the festival merch table.
How can I get a cute pic and show I was there?
We have a photo backdrop and props, perfect for taking that fun photo of you, with your friends, or with your whole book club! Volunteers will be on hand to assist with photos. Be sure to tag us @mtpleasantfol and use the #mplitfest hashtag. We love seeing photos from the fest!
What if I’m hungry?
We recommend local downtown Festival sponsors 73 & Main and Café Lentz for your lunch and dinner needs, with a hand scooped ice cream at Grumpy’s Ice Cream Parlor for dessert. Additionally, there are other great food options for all kinds of tastes, conveniently located a short walk or drive from the Mt. Pleasant Library.
What if I need caffeine or water?
We are excited to partner with Bloom & Brew, a local mobile coffee truck. Look for them in the parking lot on Saturday, March 21st! As for water, please bring your reusable water bottle. We have filling stations in our building and you are welcome to use them.
What if I want to explore?

Can I help support the literary festival?

What is the Bernheim Literary Society?
The Bernheim Literary Society is a special group of people who help support the Mt. Pleasant Literary Festival though a monetary donation.
